Mixing Blackberry Bliss with Hello Honey from Stampin' Up!

Out of the new catalog, a new color combination emerged for me – Blackberry Bliss with Hello Honey from Stampin' Up!  I get that some people LOVE purple, and some people LOVE yellow – but I fit into neither group!

BUT….

I blame my new found love of this color combination on the Moonlight patterned paper stack.  I am so in love with this paper – like crazy in love with it.  And it got me to dust off an almost forgotten River Rock to pair with it.  (Crumb Cake is my usual go-to neutral.)

I just got this paper in and didn't even wait to get my new stamps out for this card, I went all in focusing on colors.

For this card, it was about simple.

Seriously… simple.

It all started with this pattern from the Moonlight paper stack:

**That is where my color combination came from:  Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey and Sahara Sand.  So the card base became the Sahara Sand and a piece of that patterned paper (4″ x 5-1/4″) became the layer on the base.

Then it was time to pick a coordinating paper, still from the Moonlight paper stack, I chose the random dots.

**For the sizes of all the papers, I didn't start out with a ruler.  Instead I started with the Large Scallop Edgelit.  I grabbed a strip of the Blackberry Bliss and die cut it, then I measured the length of four scallops.  That is the length of the Hello Honey piece of card stock.

I think so many times with measurements, we go at it backwards!

Then four squares of the coordinating Moonlight paper and you have your card front almost done.

It's time for the sentiment…

**That came from A Dozen Thoughts stamp set.  And with everything lately having chevrons, pennants, flags or whatever else you want to call it, I opted for a fun angled cut.  (Between you and I, I thought I would change it, but I love it!!)

A simple flower from the Work of Art Stamp Set stamped in Blackberry Bliss and punched from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and a rhinestone in the middle complete the front of this card!

You only need three steps to do the inside:

  1. You start with Whisper White (4″ x 5-1/4″).
  2. You die cut another piece of Blackberry Bliss with the Large Scallop Edgelit.
  3. Add a 4″ x 1-1/4″ strip of patterned paper.

I hope that you enjoyed seeing this idea and learning how to make it.  My challenge to you, when you fall in love with a patterned paper, don't fight the color combinations even though they may not be your favorites.  Try it out, you just might love the results.  I never thought I would love mixing Blackberry Bliss with Hello Honey – but I did – thank you Stampin' Up! for these new colors!
