Making Handmade Christmas Cards

This past weekend should have been spent packing boxes and getting ready for our move.  Instead it went the direction of crafting.

Have you ever procrastinated by crafting?

That might have been what I did now that I reflect on it right now with my morning coffee.

Emily is on a competitive cheer team this year, and loving it.  From the bows to the other girls, she is in her element.  And it's perfect for her.

The cheer moms do a spirit gift before each competition.  There are four of us working on the first one.

We are moving, so why in the world did I volunteer to do the first one?  Stupidity?  Quite possibly.

But in my mind at the time, I wanted to get them done!  I said I would make the gift bags since that is right up my alley.   AND get them made before I lose the stamps in the move :).

It was a whirlwind weekend of glimmer paper and red stars (I will share the gift bags as soon as they are done.)

But then I had left over parts…

They were sitting on my craft table when I got in here this morning and instead of seeing cheer bags, I thought instantly that the stars that were already die cut would be perfect for some handmade Christmas cards and away I went.

The sentiment I went with was perfect for these glimmer stars, it is from the Embellished Ornaments stamp set from Stampin' Up!.  It couldn't be a better size or sentiment.

I should take a picture of my pile of red scraps that I have sitting here, but instead of photographing them, I grabbed one of them and turned it into a banner.

A little dry embossing of the Crumb Cake square I had sitting out for some reason and this card was practically done!

This card didn't have THAT many supplies.  One stamp set, one die set and a few odds and ends.  But I LOVE the way it turned out.  It might just be one of my favorites that I have created for this Christmas year.

Want to make this card?  All the supplies and order links are listed below with one exception – I went with a retired embossing folder for the red star.  Either choose a different pattern or leave it plain :).

Be sure to check back this week for more on the gift bags – they are cray-z cute so far!!!  Thanks so much for joining me today where we turned cheer scraps into handmade Christmas cards!
