Making A Handmade Birthday Card for a Little Boy

Today it is all about Making A Handmade Birthday Card for a Little Boy.

For this card, I went with stars and texture rather than my traditional polka dots on Mondays.

And there are a couple of paper crafting tricks I used when creating this card, so let's dive in.

I used a sold out set called Yee-haw from Stampin' Up!  But just because it has sold out doesn't mean I can't use it, it just means you cannot buy it right now.  But you can recreate many of these same things just with different stamps.

For the barbed wire strip, I used a 5″ piece of Whisper White card stock, but the stamp was about 4″.  So anytime you have a long stamp that isn't long enough, you can either stamp them side by side or you can use this trick.

I knew I was going to have the sheriff badge to help me out with disguising what I needed disguising.

I started by stamping the image and then covering up part of the stamped image with a post it note:

Then it was time to re-ink and stamp:

When you remove the post it note, you will have this:

And that overlap section is perfect for the Sheriff badge to cover up.

Let's chat about that badge.  I liked how the section of the badge is curved, but the ‘Sheriff' stamp is straight.  Did you know that with photopolymer stamps you can curve them on your block?  Check it out:

So I first stamped the badge in Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with Silver Embossing Powder.  Then I stamped the Sheriff in Night of Navy ink with the stamp curved!  This layer was painstakingly hand cut, but I survived.

Then it was time to dry emboss.  I went with the woodgrain embossing folder for this.

Time to do our other stars.  I stamped the round stars twice in Cherry Cobbler and then once in Night of Navy.  A 1″ Circle punch made it easy to have these cut out.

Then you would want to use a 1-1/4″ Circle Punch to get two Night of Navy circles and one Cherry Cobbler circle.  Layer these with your stars.

One other punch was used.  I used the banner punch to get the chevron edge on the right hand side of my 1/2″ Whisper White strips.

Then it was time to assemble.

Next, tackle the inside of your card.  I kept mine simple with just stamping onto a Whisper White rectangle.

I know that the little boy this card is for is going to love it!!!  I can't wait to see his face when he opens it.

Sharing your love of paper crafting with those that love you is such an awesome treat, isn't it?  It's not about what I can make, it's about those that appreciate your craftiness and effort.  Anyone can buy a card, not everyone can make one!!!  (Making A Handmade Birthday Card for a Little Boy)

Below are the supplies I used, but think about other stamps you can use instead of this one!

To order any of the supplies, simply click on the item – add them to your bag – and check out.  Remember to track your purchases towards free stamps using your Reward Tracker.

Thanks so much for joining me for today's post that is all about Making A Handmade Birthday Card for a Little Boy.  I hope it inspires you to create today!
